چکیده

On the basis of Braaten and Segel’s representation of the electromagnetic dispersion relations in a QED plasma we check the numerical accuracy of several published analytic approximations to the plasma neutrino emission rates. As we find none of them satisfactory we derive a new analytic approximation which is accurate to within 4% where the plasma process dominates. The correct emission rates in the parameter regime relevant for the red giant branch in globular clusters are larger by about 10 − 20% than those of previous stellar evolution calculations. Therefore, the core mass of red giants at the He flash is larger by about 0.005M⊙ or 1% than previously thought. Our bounds on neutrino magnetic dipole moments remain virtually unchanged. Vacuum oscillation solution to the solar neutrino problem in standard and nonstandard pictures.

The neutrino long wavelength (just-so) oscillation is revisited as a solution to the solar neutrino problem. We consider just-so scenario in various cases: in the framework of the solar models with relaxed prediction of the boron neutrino flux, as well as in the presence of the non-standard weak range interactions between neutrino and matter constituents. We show that the fit of the experimenta...

v 1 4 N ov 1 99 6 STANDARD PHYSICS SOLUTION TO THE SOLAR NEUTRINO PROBLEM ?

The 8 B solar neutrino flux predicted by the standard solar model (SSM) is consistent within the theoretical and experimental uncertainties with that observed at Kamiokande. The Gallium and Chlorine solar neutrino experiments, however, seem to imply that the 7 Be solar neutrino flux is strongly suppressed compared with that predicted by the SSM. If the 7 Be solar neutrino flux is suppressed, st...

Neutrinos in a fluctuating plasma and the solar neutrino puzzle

Neutrino flux propagating in a fluctuating plasma is substantially reduced due to the phenomenon of Anderson localization. We show that this effect can be significant for solar neutrinos, thus requiring rethinking of conventional solutions to the solar neutrino puzzle. Various astrophysical and terrestrial netrino experiments are strongly indicating on anomalous reduction of neutrino fluxes con...

We demonstrate that the neutrino kinetic equation derived by the standard Bo-golyubov method is formally gauge non-invariant and give a recipe how to recast it to the gauge invariant form recovering the standard Lorentz form weak force term which apparently conserves the lepton current. The analogy with the QED plasma case is traced which in asymptotic regions implies substitution of electric c...

The Predicted Signature of Neutrino Emission in Observations of Pulsating Pre-White Dwarf Stars

Pre-white dwarf (PWD) evolution can be driven by energy losses from neutrino interactions in the core. Unlike solar neutrinos, these are not the by-product of nuclear fusion, but instead result from electron scattering processes in the hot, dense regions of the PWD core. We show that the observed rate of period change in cool PWD pulsators will constrain neutrino emission in their cores, and we...
